The 13th Australasian Congress on Genealogy & Heraldry will be held in Adelaide on 28 to 31 March 2012. Details on their website at www.congress2012.org.au

Members are invited to submit a potted biography of a favourite ancestor, of not more than 500 words, with photo or graphic, to feature on our website. If there is no photo of the theperson available, any other appropriate image such as ship, tools of trade, location shot can be included, or if preferred, the webmaster can provide a suitable graphic to illustrate the story.

As usual, our Christmas Party was a great success and a good time was had by all. Members can spot themselve in the slideshow at the foot of the page. With thanks to Glenda Buck for the photos.

On Sunday 4 December Sutherland Shire Bushcare Volunteers BBQ was held at the Port Hacking hall and our Centre was open and manned by our own volunteers. Lots of the Bushcare people came to view our facilities. A very successful afternoon. Photos at right.

Botany Bay FHS has won the 2011 Dorothy Fellowes Award for Best Website. Webmaster Pat Fearnley accepted the award on behalf of the Society from Brad Argent of Ancestry at the Inverell Conference dinner. The prize is a year's Ancestry.com subscription. Photo by Melissa Hulbert.

31 Members attended the NSW & ACT Association of Family History Societies State Conference at Inverell over the weekend of 16, 17 & 18 September. All had a great time, learned a lot and renewed old, and made new, friendships. Some also enjoyed the Monday tour to historic Newstead Station. The BBFHS stand at the Conference spread the word about the 2012 Conference we are hosting at Tradies next year.
